2022 THIS calendar winners announced

Tuesday, Dec 7, 2021
News Release

A 13-year old Delta resident who wanted a community where everyone can feel like they belong, is the overall winner of The Harmony Initiative Society (THIS) 2022 Calendar contest. The contest was a partnership between THIS, the Delta Police Department, the Delta Police Foundation and Delta School District. The contest was also supported by the City of Delta and Tsawwassen Mills Mall.

Randi Cunningham’s prize-winning drawing shows how Delta is a very diverse community with many different industries and people from all walks of life. She is the grand prize winner of a new Apple iPAD.

“I think the artwork delivers a message to the community, one of kindness and caring and that we all belong,” said THIS co-founder Warren Flandez in his remarks to the winners at a small ceremony last week. “The calendar also offers an opportunity for budding artists to be seen.”

The calendars are on sale his week for $10. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delta.

There were 91 submissions in total, and Tsawwassen Mills is displaying all the entries in its community neighbourhood near Entrance 3 by the restaurants. A full list of winners is below.

“I hope all the artists come to the mall to check out their artwork on display, and view all the fantastic art we received,” says Delta Police Chief Neil Dubord. “We’d love if you would post your picture on social and tag us.”

Calendars can be purchased at the Delta Police Headquarters building in Ladner and the Public Safety Building on 84 Avenue in North Delta. They are also available at the Sungod Rec Center, South Delta Rec Center, Ladner Leisure Center and the Tsawwassen Mills Mall Customer Service Desk. There are only 400 printed in this first run, due to supply shortages with the floods, so don’t delay in picking one up. A total of 1,000 calendars will be printed.

Our thanks to the Delta Police Foundation for donating the prizes, all the advertisers in the calendars, and the staff at TELDON who volunteered their time to design the calendar.
