Delta Police Recognized as a Top 5 Police Agency for Impaired Driving Enforcement in the Lower Mainland

Friday, Jul 28, 2023
News Release

The Delta Police Department (DPD) is thrilled to announce its recognition as one of the top five police agencies for impaired driving enforcement in the Lower Mainland, receiving the "Top 5" award from MADD Metro Vancouver Chapter (MADD).

The "Top 5" award, presented by MADD, evaluated data from January 1 to December 31, 2022, examining criminal charges and roadside administrative actions in 13 Lower Mainland municipal police jurisdictions and RCMP detachments. DPD’s exceptional performance earned the team well-deserved score of 62, solidifying their place among the top five in the region.

Chief Neil Dubord expressed his pride in the achievement, stating, "I am proud of Delta Police's recognition as one of the top five police agencies for impaired driving enforcement in the Lower Mainland. This achievement highlights our frontline officers' unwavering commitment to safer roads in our community. Each impaired driver removed from our streets represents a tragedy prevented. I extend my appreciation to the MADD Metro Vancouver Chapter for this acknowledgment."

As summer continues and we approach long weekends, Chief Dubord urges everyone to plan a safe ride home if drinking is part of their plans. "We all have a collective role to play in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community," he emphasized.

MADD Metro Vancouver Chapter will be presenting award certificates to the Top 5 police agencies in the coming weeks. DPD joins other outstanding jurisdictions, including West Vancouver, New Westminster, Port Moody, and Langley, in receiving this prestigious honor.
