Suspect charged in North Delta Break and Enters

Sunday, Jan 6, 2019

File 20-342

A recent call about a possible medical event led to Delta police to arresting a break and enter suspect.

Delta Police were contacted on January 4 just after 6 pm, about a man on the porch of a nearby residence, who was potentially overdosing.

Police arrived and located a man in the Nordel neighbourhood of North Delta, who stated he required medical attention. While an officer attended to the man another officer checked the area and determined there appeared to have been a break-in nearby.

Emergency health services were called to assess the man, and based on the evidence, the man was arrested.

“The investigation led police to believe the man had just committed break-ins in the area,” says Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police. The Lower Mainland District Forensic Identification Services assisted with the investigation.

Jason William DEISTING, age 43, of no fixed address faces three charges in connection with this incident. He is facing charges of Break and Enter a dwelling with intent, and Break and Enter and commit, as well as possess Break and Enter instrument.

DEISTING is considered a prolific property crime offender. He has been remanded into custody and next appears in court January 8, 2020.
