News Release

Delta, BC – The Delta Police Department operates a Community-First Policing Model that promotes community involvement for problem solving, crime reduction, and community safety.  In the last month, this model of community policing and the relationship we have with our community has led the DPD to solving two high profile crime trends in South Delta, noted below.

File 24-9928

In early June, community help resulted in the identification and arrest of a woman who had been stealing from cars and using garage remotes to break into homes.  A community tip from an alert resident resulted in that investigation proceeding to criminal charges.

File 24-13063

On July 16th, 2024, the Delta Police issued a news release in relation to youth who were randomly assaulting pedestrians with a pellet gun. That evening, an engaged community member assisted the police by providing information about the suspects and the suspect vehicle involved in those assaults.  As a result of that information, officers were able to locate the car and arrest a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male responsible for these assaults.  Both males are from Tsawwassen.  The pellet gun was also recovered at the time of the arrests.  Both males have been released on Undertakings and turned over to parents.

The Delta Police are grateful for the tip that has resolved this incident, and we are grateful for the relationship we have with our community that drives our Community-First focus.
