During a foggy afternoon commute on a well-travelled local highway bridge, a vehicle was left abandoned and the operator has not been seen since.  On December 4th, 2024, at approximately 5:40 pm, a grey 2023 Volkswagen Taos SUV stopped in the curb lane of the southbound Alex Fraser Bridge. The car obstructed and impacted afternoon commuter traffic. The driver got out of the car and has not been located.

The driver, (name removed), is described as 5’11” tall, weighing 230 lbs, with short black hair, short black beard, black rimmed glasses, possibly wearing a light grey toque, black winter jacket without hood, and dark-colored pants.  He has a tattoo on the back of his right hand. See the attached photo for an image of (Image removed).

“The Delta Police Department is renewing its appeal for witnesses to assist in determining what happened to (name removed). We know traffic was impacted almost immediately by the stopped vehicle, yet it wasn’t reported as abandoned for nearly 20 minutes. There are witnesses, and even the smallest piece of information could be crucial to our investigation. We are urging anyone who was traveling southbound on the Alex Fraser Bridge at approximately 5:40 p.m. and saw the stopped car in the lane or observed the driver near the vehicle to come forward. This includes a cyclist who was on the southbound (west) sidewalk at that time,” says A/Insp. James Sandberg, Public Affairs Manager for the DPD.

Any information on the whereabouts of (name removed), or information about the vehicle abandonment can be reported to the Delta Police Department at (604)946-4411.  If you have dash camera video from the Alex Fraser Bridge at approximately 5:40-6:20pm December 4th, 2024, please contact the Delta Police Department.  Quote file number 2024-22861.
