Update – Investigation into 17-Year-Old’s Death

Friday, Jan 28, 2022
News Release

File 21-28085

On December 7, 2021, the Delta Police Department advised the public that a missing person, 17-year-old (Name Removed), had been tragically located, deceased, in a home located on Tsawwassen First Nation lands.

At that time the DPD advised (Name Removed)’s death was deemed suspicious, and that an adult male was arrested in connection with her death. The adult male was interviewed, processed and released from custody pending further investigation, including toxicology and forensic analysis.  The DPD is still investigating the circumstances of (Name Removed)’s death.

“(Name Removed)'s death is a tragedy, and continues to resonate with the community at large,” says Inspector Heath Newton of the Investigative Services Section. “Our investigators are aware that there are many discussions occurring related to her death. While we cannot provide any substantive updates yet on the investigation, we are confirming that the homeowners where (Name Removed) was located have been cooperative with our investigation.”

The DPD requests that the community remain patient and allow the investigation to conclude and Crown Counsel to assess the evidence.

If the public has any tips or additional information regarding this investigation, the DPD requests they call 604-946-4411.
