DOVEThe Delta Opposes Violence Everywhere Committee (DOVE) is comprised of members from various community service agencies within Delta, whose focus is the prevention of relationship violence through Education. The DOVE committee's objective is to increase public awareness surrounding violence in relationships and the committee's coordinated efforts work toward reducing any gaps in services that may exist in the Delta area.

Events and Projects Update

Emergency Care Kits: The DOVE Committee has undertaken a project which will provide the member agencies with emergency care kits to give to women or men who are leaving an abusive relationship. Kits will also include personal care items and activities for the children.

Donations in the form of products and monetary funding are being collected by a DOVE sub-committee. If you are interested in helping, please email .

Upcoming 2011 public service events
Members of the DOVE committee will be visible in the community as December 6, National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women approaches.
  • Saturday, December 3: Committee members will be hosting a display in the Ladner Leisure Centre from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The DOVE committee will be accessible and will provide resource information.
  • Tuesday, December 6: National Day of Remembrance, the DOVE committee will be accessible and will provide resource information at a display in the Scottsdale Center (7100 blk 120 St, North Delta) between the hours of 11:00am to 5:00pm. Committee members will also be at Delta Hospital from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
  • Tuesday, December 6 - Friday, December 9: Committee members will be hosting displays in four secondary schools in Delta in an effort to educate youth on the issues of relationship violence, from 10:30am - 12:30pm:
        Dec 6: Sands Secondary
        Dec 7: Delview Secondary
        Dec 8: North Delta Secondary
        Dec 9: South Delta Senior Secondary

  • Development and translation of various resources for women, youth and seniors.

Education and raising public awareness:

  • Mall Displays: Annual participation in National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, December 6
  • Annual participation in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
  • Displays and presentations in schools
  • Presentations in local temples
  • Displays in local libraries
  • Liaising and networking with other local resources and professionals in the field to ensure that there is public awareness about the impact of violence and where people can go to get the help they need.
