Can I get a criminal record check just to see if I have a record?
Yes, the $65 fee applies. This is not a printout of a record, just a response of "Does not have a record" or "A record may or may not exist".
In the instance that the results indicate that "A record may or may not exist" the only procedure available to obtain a copy of what is on your record is to attend the Delta Police Department and have your fingerprints taken (by appointment only).
Once fingerprints have been taken it is the responsibility of the applicant to forward those fingerprints to Ottawa. The fingerprints are processed in Ottawa and the results are mailed back to the applicant. The certified copy of the criminal record will contain information on the date(s) of the charge, the place of charge(s), the type of charge(s) and disposition of charge(s). This process may take 6-8 months.
