The media relations officer, Cst. Ciaran Feenan, conveys matters of community interest, information about ongoing investigations, as well as our involvement in various community events and initiatives.
We recognize that it is critical to work cooperatively and professionally with the media (print, television and radio) to disseminate information to the public without undue delay, and in compliance with the Provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, on issues of public safety and security. We enjoy an excellent working relationship with the media, appreciate that their job is to get information to the public, and we do our best to assist them.
Brief Bio - Constable Ciaran Feenan
Cst. Ciaran Feenan was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1974 where they settled in Richmond, BC. Cst. Feenan attended Vancouver College High School, and after graduation attained a football scholarship in Eastern Washington where he earned a degree. Upon returning home, Cst. Feenan continued his studies and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.
In 1997, Cst. Feenan was hired by Vancouver Police Department and successfully completed the rigorous training at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. During the course of Cst. Feenan's thirteen year career with the VPD, he was assigned to various sections including Patrol, Youth Services Gang Squad, School Liaison Unit, Crowd Control Unit and Firearms Interdiction Team.
Cst. Feenan transferred to the Delta Police Department in September 2010 and was assigned to the Patrol Section working in both North and South Delta.
Cst. Feenan is a regular guest instructor at the Justice Institute of British Columbia where he instructs police recruits during their block three Legal Studies. Cst. Feenan also teaches active serving members during the Field Trainers Course, the School Liaison Course, and is an instructor on the Vancouver Police Department's Critical Incident Training. Cst. Feenan is also a certified assessor for the Justice Institute of British Columbia Recruit Assessment Center.
Cst. Feenan is married with three children, and has been an active volunteer in the Delta community for many years, coaching girls softball, along with girls and boys soccer. Cst. Feenan has served as the Vice-President of the North Delta Football Association for the past seven years, and is the volunteer coordinator for the annual Sun God Football Tournament held every summer at John Oliver Park.
