Serious Crimes Section
The Serious Crime Section is responsible for investigations into homicides, attempted murders, serious assaults, suspicious deaths, police shootings, missing persons, witness protection, and other files of a complex nature.
Since 1999 the Section has been directly involved in several joint-force operations with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Combined Special Forces Enforcement Unit.
The Serious Crimes Section also incorporates the principles of major case management, electronic file support and disclosure when investigating such offences. The Section continually exploits new technology and investigative techniques to enhance the efficiency of investigations and disclosure.
