Recruiting Facts
- 9 recruits were hired in 2010 and 11 in 2009.
- Over the last five years, an average of 12 recruits have been hired per year. Two-thirds of these recruits have either lived in Delta or been volunteers with our Department.
- Each year we receive approximately 1,000 constable applications.
- The training at the Justice Institute Police Academy consists of 12 weeks at the Academy, 12 weeks at Delta Police Department with a field trainer and 9 weeks at the Academy
- 8 reserve officers are being trained in 2011 and 9 were trained in 2010. We received approximately 150 reserve officers applications for these 17 positions.
